Indian authorities have arrested a Nigerian national alleged to be at the centre of a major narcotics distribution network that supplied drugs to almost 1,975 customers across Telangana State.
The suspect, identified by police simply as Nick, was reportedly operating the network through an online marketplace, using internationally registered phone numbers and multiple courier services to move the illicit substances discreetly. According to the Telangana Anti-Narcotics Bureau (TSANB), his activities came to light after investigators noticed recurring patterns while probing separate drug cases in the state.
Officials said courier data from approximately 30 shipment centres across Delhi and surrounding areas revealed a consistent link to handlers of Nigerian origin. This discovery prompted a coordinated enforcement action under a nationwide crackdown known as Operation Eagle Force.
During the operation, more than 50 foreign nationals, many of them Nigerians, were picked up in raids across Delhi. All individuals believed to be connected to the Telangana supply chain were later transferred to Hyderabad for further investigation.
Indian authorities estimate that the network supplied drugs valued at about ₹5 crore, an amount equivalent to roughly ₦812 million.
The incident adds to a series of recent cases in India involving Nigerian nationals accused of drug trafficking or immigration-related offences. Officials say the trend highlights how international syndicates increasingly exploit online ordering systems and courier networks to evade traditional law-enforcement surveillance.
TSANB has announced that investigations are ongoing and further arrests may follow as digital and courier records continue to be reviewed.
